Let the competition begin!

I don't think anyone on the planet realizes I do this, but now the nine or ten of you who read my blog will be in the know because I'm about to let you in on a little secret: I like to pretend my team of narrators (I view them as my team of narrators even though they've never met one another or worked together) is competing against one another on ACX. You see, I can log in and see what's being listened to and it looks kind of like this:

This is for the month of June.
This is for the month of June.

At the moment, Chris Kerrigan appears to be killing it with 35 hours (someone delved into The Way Back for an hour), but Cassandra Alling isn't really all that far behind since 22 (Like A Flip Turn) plus 6 (Time Jumps) is 28. Rob Connolly is holding his own with 13 hours for Kick It One More Time, but Dog-Eared Life was LITERALLY just released yesterday as an audiobook (you can buy it on Audible and iTunes) and I won't be surprised if he steals the lead in the days to come.

Abby Filsinger, whose very first novel with me (Cloud Writing) was also just released yesterday as an audiobook (you can buy it on Audible and iTunes) has some real ground to make up, but she may be able to do it if she advertises as much as she's been doing in the past couple of weeks.

Now... take a look at last month's date:

Rob Connolly for the win!!!
Rob Connolly for the win!!!

Rob Connolly kicked everyone else right out of the competition! (Do you see what I did there? Rob narrates Kick It One More Time... and he "kicked" everyone out of the competition...)

May was decent for Chris Kerrigan too. The Way Back plus An Illusion of Control earned him 35 hours... but that still doesn't really compete with Rob's 98.

My prediction for June is that Rob is going to come in first thanks to the release of Dog-Eared Life. It's longer than Cloud Writing, which automatically works in his favor, and I think I've got a lot of readers who are invested in the lives of Flannel Lobster's members. Dog-Eared follows the love story of Russo (drummer for the band) and a girl he meets at a show. I won't tell you more than that, but I will say that I laughed a ton while proof-listening this novel.

As for a second-place winner... I'm thinking it might be Abby. She's gonna have to cover some serious ground if she wants to gain on Chris's current 35 hours, but she's tenacious and young and is growing a following on her social media.

How cool would it be, though, if Cassandra Alling came out of nowhere and snagged gold because all of the sudden someone discovered the beauty of Like A Flip Turn and recommended it to all her friends? That would be neat. I'd really like that.

Since we're having more fun with data, maybe you'd like to share your predictions in the comments. I'm also willing to participate in small bets if anyone is interested. And remember that if YOU have a favorite narrator, the way to help that narrator secure first place for the month of June is to listen to his/her narrations of Hannah Rae novels.

Alrighty then. Let the competition begin!
